Figured I should reward myself. After all, it is Friday.
So, I bought myself some strong Norwegian Christmas beer. Only the Sagene can is below 9.0 %, so I’m not sure if I’m drinking all this today. Norwegian Christmas beer is nomally quite sweet and similar to a dark lager, though these stronger more expensive beers are more like a sweet Bock. These might not be the most familiar brands to you, but why not post I guess.

My favorite beer is actually an Austrian doppelbock.
I have a few 2014 vintage, 2 2012 and one 2010.
I’m hunting for 2015 now to put away

That first one makes me laugh a bit because I am 5. I know it may not be pronounced the way I see it, but still.
Guy 1: “So whatcha drinking?”
Guy 2: “Aass”
Guy 1: *slowly backs away*

They say that these will get even better after being stored a year or two as well. Never tried it myself though..

Ha! I’ve already had my daily banana, so I can start drinking beer with good conscience now.

Hahaha, double a is about the same sound as the o in “Oh!” here. Was out drinking with a Scottish exchange student once and he also commented “wot the fock ar you guys drinking ass-beer?”!
Languages are funny.

That must have an awful taste.

I’ve tried it a couple of times. It’s pretty good for the first few sips, but just gets worse after that to me. Sucks because I love banana bread and this had so much potential.

I’ve seen these in Louisiana but never actually picked one up. The 4 packs are pretty expensive there. I may have to pick some up next time I am down there though.

I keep getting people saying to me that they like it but if it’s true it’s certainly an acquired taste. I thought it was ruddy awful.

Personally I think the stuff is awful but several people have told me they like it.
People are strange.

Hehe that’s hilarious. I can just imagine a guy with a Scottish accent saying it.

I thought it was bad from the smell but thought ‘hey, give it a taste’ and wish I’d listened to my nose first.
It was a short while back but if I recall I didn’t get half way through the bottle before pouring it down the sink. Now I don’t throw away beer often, in fact rarely, but this had to gotten rid of.

We all have different tastes for sure.

So true. For me banana bread beer is right up there with Marmite. Not good.
But then again, I’m drinking this stuff and I’ve heard it’s not for everybody. ;)

I can't imagine storing beer for a couple of weeks, let alone a full year.

It depends. These beers are quite seasonal, and best enjoyed with salted/smoked and fat food together with cold weather. I don’t drink this during summer, so I would be able to store some that wasn’t opened that particular Christmas.

You owe to yourself to drink one by a fire, warm, and a cigar in your other hand..sip and enjoy the flavors that just don’t come through when drank cold

I bet they will. Such bocks normally do.
You live in Europe?

That’s right up my alley - I suppose it’d be great with some good sausage and cured meats.
